In a previous MLM training article, I laid out the structure (Presenting Formula) of presenting one-on-one. Now the thing you need to know to be effective at doing a one-on-one is how to use that structure correctly.

Here is the structure again:

Presenting Formula:

1. Greet
2. Qualify
3. Present

One-on-Ones (present step expanded):

• Give global overview
• Make main point
• Educate on necessary topics
• Make point 1
• Support point 1
• Confirm agreement on point 1
• Make point 2…(continue with support/confirm)
• Conclude by proving main point
• Make simple and offer the solution

4. Close to action
5. Follow up

Everything I’m going to go over in this article is from the perspective of doing a one-on-one in person (as opposed to doing a one-on-one over the phone).

The major decision you need to make prior to the one-on-one is whether or not you invite your prospect to view anything about the business before the one-on-one meeting. My recommendation is that you have them watch either the Brilliant Compensation DVD or the Brilliant Compensation online movie, both of which are available at http://www.firstclassmlmtools.com

Quick story: A few months back, I met a famous person on a flight from Tampa, FL to Los Angeles, CA. She has been on Television for over 20 years either on the Home Shopping Network or infomercials. She has personally sold approximately one billion dollars worth of products (if your jaw didn’t just drop to your keyboard, re-read the last sentence). We hit it off and talked for 4 hours as if we were best friends.

Of course she asked, What do you do? I told her that I retired from network marketing and was now helping the whole industry. She told me that she had seen network marketing hundreds of times from both the corporate side as well as distributors. Many network marketing companies (corporate, not distributors) had asked her to do different things like shoot videos and represent their product, etc.

She asked me, Do those things really work? I answered back, They do. That was all I said; I didn’t go into it any further.

A little later I told her about the video I made (Brilliant Compensation) for the industry. She said she’d love to watch it. I joked around with her, saying that I would rather not, as she ’s a pro and I’m not an entertainer and that would become very evident if she saw it.

To make a long story short, I sent her the DVD version. Shortly after, she came over to my house for dinner and said something rather revealing. She said, Tim, no you’re not an entertainer,’ but you answered every question I’d ever had about network marketing. You even got me to thinking, ‘Hmm, maybe I should do network marketing.’

My point in telling you this story is that I wanted you to see that, even though I absolutely know how to explain network marketing, I still sent her Brilliant Compensation, even though she is an absolute professional in television, infomercials and Broadway plays.

So, when setting up a one-on-one, your decision on whether or not to send your prospect something about the business before meeting with them will dictate how you use the formula.

Decision A: Send them Brilliant Compensation.

This would mean that prior to the one-one-one, they would have seen an explanation of network marketing. So your Present step (of the presenting formula) would consist of going through the four principles of business and integrating your company/products within them. The four principles of business are:

- huge expanding market,
- unique and consumable products,
- leverage and
- timing.

You would confirm your prospect ’s understanding of each principle. After that, you simply conclude by making it simple and presenting an offer.

Decision B: Not sending them anything prior.

This means that when you sit to do the one-on-one, they will have seen nothing and don’t have any idea about what you’re going to be discussing with them. Perhaps they know that it ’s a business idea or concept, but for the purpose of how to use the formula, assume they know nothing.

If this is the case, you will need to create the foundation and orientation for your prospect, similar to what I did in Brilliant Compensation. Therefore, the steps are the same as what was laid out in the presenting formula above:

- Give global overview
- Make your main point
- Educate on necessary topics
- Make your first point
- Support your first point
- Confirm their understanding of the first point
- Make additional points, support them and confirm understanding
- Conclude
- Present an offer

In conclusion, and to help you in your MLM success, keep in mind that whether you’re talking to your next door neighbor or a famous person, Brilliant Compensation will convince them of the legitimacy of network marketing. Show the Brilliant Compensation presentation first and even the most cynical prospect will be open to taking a serious look at your opportunity.

Understand this: In our fast-paced environment, the market for products and services that can give us some of our time back to do other things will never go out of fashion. If you can really save people time, you can make money. And lots of it too!

People buy to gain more security:

In our society, the mainstream media constantly pitches fear at us. You can turn on your 5 o’clock news almost every night and watch something that injects fear and worry into most of us whether it be high gas prices, the crashing real estate market, rising crime in your local area, or some new virus in the air.

With that said, it becomes instinctive for most people to buy products or services that gives them more security.

People buy to reduce or eliminate repetitive or hard work:

Repetitive and hard work? Yuck!

You probably enjoy keeping things fresh and interesting, right? And if you are like me, you like to keep things as easy as possible. Have you ever had a job or a business task where you had to do the same thing over and over or something extremely repetitive or physically or mentally draining that ruins the rest of your evening because you’re so dang exhausted?

Well, people will definitely buy anything that can reduce or eliminate repetitive or hard work.

We’ve all heard the statement “There’s got to be an easier way of doing this.” And if you can show people that way with your product or service, money will chase you down. And that’s a good problem to have!

People buy to save money and make money:

Hey we all need money to survive. If you have a product or service that saves people money or makes people money (or even better, does both), people will consider your product or service.

People buy to feed their curiosity:

Some things sound really good to us or really odd to us, but in a lot of cases, we don’t really know until we try.

I’m sure you’ve seen the commercials advertising some psychic you can call that can tell you your future, etc. Most people call psychics because they’re “curious” as to what the psychic really knows (or doesn’t know).

Always create curiosity when you can. It’s a great psychological trigger that will help your sales improve dramatically. Think about how many times you’ve purchased a product or service out of curiosity.

People buy to acquire pleasure:

Unloading $5,000 on the latest and greatest 60″ high definition TV (HDTV) and another $500 on a BluRay DVD player is simply buying pleasure. The big TV looks great in your living room and you’ll be a hero on gameday when all of the guys come over to watch the game on your 60″ big screen. It’s great entertainment and entertainment is one of the best pleasures in life.

And your Network and Internet Marketing business allows you to make a lot of money from home and live life in a big way once you figure the game out. How do you feel about that for acquiring pleasure? After all, do you really want to stay in the rat race your entire life living paycheck to paycheck? If you do, you are on the wrong blog!

And since we’re talking about pleasure, let’s shift our focus to pain:

People buy to avoid pain:

Listen, I don’t like pain. You don’t like pain. It can be physical pain, emotional pain, or financial pain…nobody likes pain. Period.

If something hurts bad enough and you can buy something to mitigate or better yet eliminate the pain, you will buy it hands down.

And there they are - the biggest problems people will buy solutions to.

There are other reasons why people buy, but these are some of the biggest and most important, especially in the Network and Internet Marketing arena.

This is an extremely crucial tip and I recommend you bookmark this particular blog and print it out.

Whenever you are putting together any marketing piece such as your own blog (which you definitely need), a sales letter (again, something you definitely need), a Web Site presentation, a Webinar, a conference call, etc., pull out this blog and make sure you understand why people buy.

When you do, include as many psychological buying triggers as possible by talking about a problem and presenting your solution. If you can present the solution indirectly and from the perspective of a consultant rather than a sales professional, you will probably have a very profitable marketing piece.

In network marketing(MLM), every soldier wants to be the king! There is a constant performance fight and ultimately the king is the one who battled across to win and find the throne.

Remember there can be only one king and the rest are trying to replace the king.

Network marketing is a constant fight to be the king, by virtue of performance and earning.

The Biggest Comedy in network marketing is that every network marketer that has a Peasant Qualification wants to be the King without cultivating the required skills.

The Biggest Irony and Tragedy in network marketing is that every peasant believes that he can be the King or the Minister with his peasant quantities.

When they are not able to earn enough in the system with their peasant quantities they blame the system. They do not investigate to see what makes the king to be The King.

Many people that are in to network marketing have more dreams than performance. This can be simplified as follows.

Our thoughts travel at lightening speed, but our foot travels just at the rate of 2 to 4 feet per movement

So, if we need to achieve the requirements of our thought (ambition, aim and goal) we need to work several thousand times at a better rate.

0.4% is considered a reasonable market conversion!

The MLM company or the product for which you are trying to make sale has a target 0.4% conversion rate target for the minimum per head. Say out of 100% if each of them is having a minimum 04% conversion it is very less and of course achievable by every down line. Just sell for 0.4%.

From the companys point of view if you are going to make just 0.4% sale from their target, it is enough for them. Let me tell you why?

In a network marketing system if the company is going to have 1000 people doing 0.4% sale then look at it this way:

1000 x 0.4% = 400% sales.

To an average network marketer it seems that they need to do ONLY 0.4% sales, but the company achieves a 400% sales which is 4 times more than its original target!

Whether you perform just 0.4% or 10% or 100% the MLM company is going to be on the profitable side.

Dont get me wrong, I just wanted to say if the MLM company has 1000 peasants doing just 0.4% it is enough for them!

But the company wants to boost their sales level from 400% to 800% how do they do this.
– They divide and rule! Create a difference.
– Peasants compete between themselves to be the minister or the king.
– The battle can be won by those that make the most shares.
– When this happens, the company grows and the people also grow based on how much they sell.

The best peasant graduates to be the minister, the best minister graduates to be the king!

Stop! Dont feel like MLM the company is making a fool out of you!
No, they are not. The company is not cheating you!
They are definitely rewarding you for what you do!

The first and most important thing to offer in your email is a solution rather than an opportunity. You should never offer an opportunity to someone unless it can be used as a tool they can use with their existing business. Most people are not even really interested in an opportunity. They have seen opportunities come and go. In the few cases when someone is brand new and has not tried something yet they might think they are interested in an opportunity but by trying to sell them on an opportunity you are just telling them you have no interest at all in what they are all about and your opportunity is really more about you than them. Instead, offer them a solution.

People are always looking for solutions to a problem.They are always looking for information. They are looking for something that will help them with what they are doing now, not what you want them to do .So, give them a solution to their problem, don’t give them an opportunity, unless that opportunity is a tool they can use with their business. You will find that about 90% of the people have not made any money yet with their opportunities. By giving them what they are really looking for, by giving them a solution to their current problems, they become interested in what else you know. This is the foundation of building a network of trusted networking associates.

The next most important thing you want to do is sell yourself by being real. Even though this may be an automated email, you don’t want it to be an impersonal email. Copying and pasting generic sample emails just make you look bad and it is a sure fire way to be passed up. Especially, when your potential associate receives an email that looks strikingly similar to the last ten emails they received. We are not saying that you should never make use of sample emails but keep in mind that you need to always add your personal touch. Make sure to take stock of what you have to offer and let your potential associates know how you stand out from the rest. People are more likely to trust you, if they can see a real person as well as someone they can consider a sponsor and a mentor.

In addition, you need to be interested in what they have to offer. Ask questions of your potential associates. Find out their interests, their backgrounds, their desires and passions. Asking them about these things will not only make them feel important it is important because you want to know where they are coming from and if they are right for your network of friends. This will allow you both to gain a better perspective of where they are at and what direction you need to go with them.

Last but not least, make sure you have included all your basic information (your name, your website name and contact information) as well as any links, offering them more information. Always try to send working links. Only send a non-working link if your email system does not accept html code. Make sure to check all of your information and those links before sending the email and be sure that your information is always current and updated.

Also, include a video on a subject of interest. This not only makes your email more attractive than most, it will capture the person’s interest far more than an ordinary email. You can also build a Youtube video to promote your solution and add it to your email simply by copy and pasting the Youtube embedding code directly into your email.

Always check your links and video by sending the email to yourself, before sending it out to anyone else. If you don’t have an extra emailbox which is connected to your business to send it to, you can simply create a free emailbox and use it for testing your emails.The last thing you want is an email that doesn’t work. Just remember, the more informative and interesting you make your solution the more excited your potential associate will get about it.

As well, there are many little tricks you can use to save time, if you have to send out the emails manually. These tips are great for your business emails as well as your personal ones.

For instance, in many email systems, you can drop and drag your headline directly from the body of your email. Once you have your initial lead generating email perfect, you can save it and hit CTRL A to copy it and CTRL V to paste it when you need it. Again, if you do this once and save it to a note pad or word document file you only have to create this email once, saving you precious time.

– You continue to sell even if you have made 100 recruits or down lines.
– You make quality recruits rather than hundred numbers of hopeless nonperforming marketers, which is the top one mistake that most network marketer do. One healthy horse will have you win the race rather than 100 unhealthy lame horses.
– You recruit people who can build their own down lines with just little help.
– The down lines you create are worthless if they cannot sponsor themselves.
– Do not sponsor to create recruits. If you sponsor to create recruits, you cannot be sure that they will be active in creating active down lines in the long run.
– Recruits that get sponsored are not committed to the system because they do not loose any thing, they can easily let the sponsorship go a waste.
– Those recruits that cannot sponsor themselves for a basic kit are not going to sell at all. Even if they sell, the passion for selling in such people will dwindle quickly, having the chain broken as opposed to the intent for which they were sponsored.
– People who fear the primary investment into their MLM business and prefer to have a free ride are in no way a good addition to the system.
– Ignore recruiting people that are not ready to pay for the system, rather you can make the product sale to them and have them contact you again for the purchase of the product again.

Those are some important factors to consider before jumping into this business. It is also a good check to see how you feel about it and about your own type of personality. Was it a match ? Either way, you will be better off knowing that now!

Whether you work in a company or from your home office, it is imperative that all your activities should be professionally executed, and for this you need to make sure that your clients do not come to know if you are conducting your business from a desk kept in your bedroom. When the CEO of an organization is discussing business matters with you on phone, it is definitely not desirable that the person on phone gets to listen to the barking of your dog, or even hear your door bell chiming. This will not leave a business like impression. Many find it difficult have a home office, since there could be many distraction on many levels. Therefore, you should set up your office where you could concentrate in what you are doing, and not getting distracted, or sending wrong signals to your clients while talking on phone.

After selecting a quiet environment to set up your home office, you should concentrate on what you need. At first you would need a totally built-in office, where you should be able to concentrate on your business work. Next, you would need telephone lines, one which should be ideally for your dedicated fax line, and the other two should be for your office, and the other for the household. It would not look proper if your business call is picked up by one of your family members, and the client is asked to hold on for you to come on line.

You would then need a computer, a printer, computer desks, mail center, file cabinets, and bookcases for your home office. You would be spending long hours in your office, and therefore you should buy a chair which provides comfort to you.

While you set up your office, you would need to arrange your things according to your work style. Perhaps your file cabinet needs to be arranged with positioning your most needed files first. Ideally you will have a copier, which would be placed near your desk. There should be quite a few power outlets available for your computer, printer, fax machine, copier and other electrical gadgets that you might have. You shall also require an internet connection separately, in addition to the one your family uses.

You also need some personal torches in your home office, to make your work area look pleasant. Paint your office with a soothing color, and have some of your family pictures to hang. You could also select some paintings to decorate the walls of your home office. You could have a small audio system playing soothing soft music at the background. A television is not recommended for it may be a cause of distraction.

There could be many other ways to set up your home office, and it does depend on your choice, your work style and the kind of business that you are having.

In fact, many of these companies run perfectly honest and valid businesses, but have become the target of dissatisfied ex-members who mistakenly feel that they have been conned in some way.

The fact is that many of these people did not understand the nature of running an online business and believed that they would make money quickly for doing very little. They have often given up on their business within a few weeks or months and decided to blame the company rather than their own inability to learn the business or put in much effort.

It is important for any new online business owners to realise that they need to treat it like a real business and put in lots of time and effort. To work out whether a company is valid or not, follow my tips below and you can be assured of your safety.

1. Take your time. Many of us can admit to getting excited about a clever piece of advertising and rushing in as if our lives depended on it. Before you realise it you have got out your credit card, clicked SUBMIT and are now several dollars lighter. You may be lucky and have come across a legitimate company, but you really do not want to rely on luck.

Make sure the company explains exactly what you are signing up for before you are committed. Shop around and compare several programs. If you like the look of some of them, bookmark them for now and carry out some research as detailed below.

2. Distrust exaggerated claims. Stay away from any company that promises great riches in a short period of time without the need to spend any money or do any work. This just does not make sense, and although it is possible to make a lot of money on the internet, you will always need to work and give it time before you start to see a good profit. Also, while it is possible to run an online business with a small budget, you will need to spend some money at some point.

3. Do your research. This is not quite as simple as just doing a search on Google. What you will find is likely to be either some advertising material encouraging you to buy into the program, or the opposite extreme of someone complaining that the company is a scam. Of course, both may be valid, but you need to find a less biased view and know who it is that is doing the talking.

The most effective way of doing this is to find some online home business forums and ask their members. Most forums will not allow blatant advertising in posts, so you can be sure of a more balanced and honest viewpoint. Many forum members are experts who have been in the online business industry for several years and will be knowledgeable about what companies are legitimate and which might be scams.

Always pay attention to people who have been in the forum for a long time as they will be trusted members who have made a useful contribution to the forum. Anyone who breaks forum rules by advertising or aggressive language will not last very long, so you can be sure that long-standing members will give you balanced advice.

4. Choose your sponsor with care. Once you have joined a few forums you will get an idea of who you like and trust. These are the kinds of people that it would be useful to have as your sponsor. Look at their websites and see if they are members of programs that you are interested in. Those who have some experience in the industry will often have several income streams and will also provide useful information, reviews and advice on their websites.

By joining an affiliate program through someone you trust you will be off to a very good start because you will be in good hands and get good advice and support.

If you follow these four steps you can be sure of finding legitimate home based businesses that are right for you while avoiding the scams, and also get the right support that you will need to get started. After that, you should develop a good relationship with your sponsor, learn all you can about marketing your business and take action every day to make your business successful.

Finding the right person to bring into your successful home based business can be difficult. You will need write up a good job description and post is on job boards to get the word out. Once you get responses you will need to do some preliminary screening and interviewing. These things can be tedious and take up some time. However, it is vital that you take your time and go through all of these steps. The person that you bring aboard needs to be want you are looking for or else you will find yourself caught up in the hiring process for a long time to come.

You will need to get an employer identification number before you hire anyone. This can be obtained form the U.S. Internal Revenue Service and it will be used for the Employer Tax ID when you fill out your taxes later on in the year. Next you will need to set up records for withholding taxes.

Federal income tax withholding is completed on Form W-4. Your employee and any others that you hire will need to sign a copy and give it back to you before they can begin employment. You will need to submit Form W-4 to the IRS. Form W-2 is designated for Federal Wage and Tax Statement. Employers have to report this to the federal government for wages paid and taxes withheld from employees. You will need to complete a Form W-2 for all of your employees. You will also need to send Copy A or Forms W-2 to the Social Security Administration before the last of February. The W-2 Form needs to be to your employees by January 31rst the year after they have completed work.

You will also need a Form I-9 for employer eligibility verification. You will need to verify that your employee is legally able to work in the United States. You will need to complete an Employment Eligibility Verification Form within three days of hire. There is also a Personal Responsibility and Work Opportunity Reconciliation Act of 1996 that requires you to report all newly hired and rehired employees within 20 days of them starting to work.
